FORGET pouting and proms, the St Ambrose Church Sanctuary are recreating the energy of the retro school leavers party.

Think big hair, big sound and big lights - the ultimate 1980s retro school disco takes place on Saturday, August 18 at 7.30pm at St Basils Club on Hough Green.

All proceeds raised at the event will go towards the restructuring of the internal social area of the main St Ambrose Church building to accommodate The Sanctuary initiative.

This ongoing weekly project supports people in Halton including those with conditions such as depression and isolation by providing a safe space of friendship, activities, crafts, homemade cakes, hot lunches and workshops - all for free.

The Sanctuary also offers professional input from volunteering organisations such as Mind, Riverside College and Wellbeing Enterprises.

The project runs every Wednesday from 10.30 am until 2pm.

Tickets for the 80s night cost £5 each and can be bought at St Ambrose Church or on the door.

The night includes fancy dress and a raffle.
