POLICE are becoming increasingly concerned for the safety of a Widnes woman who disappeared three days ago.

Lynda Crosby, 54, was reported missing at 2pm on Wednesday,  August 8.

Family, friends and neighbours have been frantically searching for her.

The National Police Air Support unit, Merseyside Police and volunteers from Cheshire Search and Rescue team are mounting a joint effort to find her.

Taxi drivers are also being asked to keep an eye out for her.

Latest CCTV footage shows Lynda on Netherley Road in Widnes at 11.37am on the day she disappeared.

She was walking towards Netherley, Merseyside, and officers are currently investigating if she may have travelled to the Liverpool or Preston areas.

Her son Gavin posted on social media: “Mum was seen heading along Netherley Road so hopefully we are getting closer to tracking her down.

“To everyone who has been looking in all parts of Widnes thank you from all of us.”

Gavin and his sister Lauren said today that their mum is vulnerable.

They say she may be in a confused state as she is without her medicine.

Mum-of-two Lynda, 54, lives in the Hough Green area of Widnes and is described as white, approximately 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build with chestnut brown shoulder length straight hair.

She was last seen wearing a distinctive blue blouse with white floral print, blue jeans and blue navy coloured sketcher trainers with white soles.

Superintendent Paul Beauchamp, who is overseeing the search, said: “Lynda has now been missing for over 48 hours, this is extremely unusual behaviour for her and we are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare.

“We are currently following a number of lines of enquiry and as part of the investigation I’d ask anyone who believes that they may have seen Lynda, or anyone matching her description, to contact us.

“I’d also appeal directly to Lynda to contact us to let us know that you are OK; your friends and family are worried about you and want to know that you are safe and well.”

Anyone with any information in relation to the whereabouts of Lynda should call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number IML 148439.
