A NEW health walk is being launched in Runcorn.

Hallwood Health Centre beside Halton Hospital is encouraging people to take more exercise as part of a national initiative.

The walk will follow paths in the Town Park and is suitable for all ages, abilities and mobility. It will be led at a comfortable pace for everyone.

Runcorn MP Mike Amesbury has agreed to join the first walk on Monday, August 13 at 11am.

Free gifts will be given away to celebrate the inaugural event.

There will be a choice of two routes, one lasting up to 30 minutes and another between 45-50 minutes.

There is no charge and adults and children are welcome to take part. The walks are pushchair friendly so parents are more than welcome to bring along their little ones.

Walkers are advised to wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather conditions.

There are currently eight health walks operating in Halton.

Physical activity can reduce the risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, depression and cancer.
