A RUNCORN takeaway which has no staff toilet and stored raw and cooked food together has been shut down for breaching food hygiene.

Mama Mia Pizza on High Street has been closed down by environmental health officers from Halton Council following an inspection on Monday, July 30.

Officers closed the premises down immediately and applied for a court order to keep the premises closed until the risk to health has been removed.

The application for the court order was heard by North Cheshire Magistrates Court at Warrington on Friday, August 3.

During the hearing the court heard that officers found there was no hot water available at the premises and no provision of lavatory facilities had been made for staff.

There was no food safety management system at the premises, there was inadequate separation between raw meats and ready to eat products, no antibacterial surface sanitiser at the premises and food waste was being disposed of in an open skip to the rear of the premises.

The premises will remain closed until environmental health officers are satisfied the immediate risk to health has been resolved.
