RUNCORN's mini police have been out on Halton Brook with PCSO Barker and Halton Borough Council staff litter picking the area around the parks.

They collected 12 bags full of plastic bottles, cans food wrappings.

The 20 mini recruits – from Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School in Runcorn will be supporting police officers in the Halton area to make their community safer as part of the national mini police scheme.

The year five children will tackle local issues that have been highlighted by their own communities as well as attending award ceremonies and events as ambassadors for the force.

They will look at three key priorities for the area; littering and protecting the local environment, helping vulnerable people in the community and road safety.
