A SCHOOLGIRL who hopes to become an astronaut is planning to climb Mount Snowdon.

Summer Royle is raising money for the charity Homes for Good, which aims to find a home for every child that needs one.

The eight-year-old is a pupil at Fairfield Primary School in Widnes.

Her mum Heather, of Stewards Avenue, said: "Summer loves space, science and engineering and she is working towards becoming an astronaut.

"Summer decided that she wanted to do something extra special this year by taking on the largest mountain in Wales. She has never climbed a mountain before but because the charity Home for Good means so much to her she wanted to really step out and make a difference."

Summer's family and her sisters Daisy, seven, and Sophie, five, belong to the Foundry Church on Lugsdale Road which has partnered with the charity to help children in need.

Heather added: "Summer and her sisters have done a few different things for charity through their young lives but this is by far the biggest Summer will have stretched herself both mentally and physically.

"Summer has gained many friends from this charity and understands how important their work is. She believes that every child needs and deserves a loving home and family."

Summer said: "Even if you're unable to give money to this great charity then please send me your good vibes to help me reach the top."

She hopes to place a flag for the charity on the summit on August 6.
