A FUN-PACKED summer event takes off in Runcorn tomorrow.

Sandymoor fete promises to be the biggest ever.

The fundraising event, which starts at midday, is a collaboration between Sandymoor Hall, the parish council and Sandymoor School’s parent teacher association.

Sandymoor Hall’s chairman Paul Hazeldine said ‘ This couldn’t have been achieved without the input from everyone.

"We wanted to build on last year’s fete and we have done that. Our mantra has been ‘get the kids off the Xbox and get family and friends together’.

"There is definitely something for all ages, from Silcock’s rides to the serenity of the tea room serving strawberries and cream, teas coffee and cakes."

The village green plays host to craft stalls, jewellery and food stalls, throw-the-wellie and a dog competition.

An events arena will see displays from dance teams and dads will be challenging girl guides to pitch tents in a fun filled contest.

Highfield Male Voice Choir and local band Tone Masons will be performing.

Organisers have asked that anyone attending refrains from smoking on any grassed area.

Despite the recent rain the ground is still dry and any risk of fire needs to be prevented.
