A VINTAGE tea party has been held at Halton Hospital to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the NHS.

The mayor and mayoress of Halton Cllrs John and Marjorie Bradshaw joined staff and patients for the 1940s themed event.

The talented Davies Sisters sang some well-known tunes from the era as the hospital restaurant was decked in bunting.

People were invited to share their NHS stories and memories and play nostalgic games.

The event raised money for Warrington and Halton Hospitals' Charity who provide additional comforts, care and experiences for patients.

Various businesses, groups and individuals across Halton pledged to hold their own tea parties as part of a NHS England initiative to enjoy tea and cakes to mark the historic milestone.

The bunting, balloons and nostalgic games were donated by Asda.
