MAJOR roadworks are about to start in Widnes town centre.
Halton Council is improving the junction at the big gyratory near The Hive leisure park.
The work starts on Monday, July 16 and includes widening access into Earle Road at the junction of Ashley Way and Watkinson Way.
This means reconfiguring the traffic island and turn off into the leisure park.
The project will involve kerbing, new carriageway construction and reconfiguring of traffic lights.
To carry out the work safely, it is necessary to close Earle Road at its junction with Ashley Way and Watkinson Way for up to 10 weeks.
A full signed diversion route will be in place.
Every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.
The contractor for the work is Tarmac, supervised by Halton Council.
