A TAKEAWAY has been shut down by Halton Council after environmental health officers found a spate of food hygiene breaches.

No 1 Tasty on Bancroft Road in Widnes has been closed indefinitely until the risk to health has been removed.

The premises were shut down immediately following an inspection on July 2.

The application for the court order was heard by North Cheshire Magistrates Court at Warrington on Friday.

During the hearing the court heard that officers observed a poor level of cleanliness and structural repair, plus a lack of food safety management in respect of temperature control, food storage and waste disposal that resulted in an imminent risk to health.

Officers found the structural condition of the premises was poor throughout.

Food including rice, cooked prawn toast, cooked crispy seaweed, cooked chips, cooked sausages and pies had been left out of temperature control from the previous day.

There were problems with the drainage system in the rear storage area where the drain was uncovered, filthy and smelt foul.

Waste, including multiple uncovered containers of waste oil, had been left to accumulate in the rear yard and risked attracting flies and rats to the premises.

The premises will remain closed until environmental health officers are satisfied the immediate risk to health has been resolved.

Until recently the premises had previously been trading as the Double Dragon Takeaway.
