EXCITEMENT is mounting as the Queen and Meghan will be coming to Halton in a matter of hours.

The exact time is not being revealed amid tight security but the Queen and Duchess of Sussex will arrive at Runcorn railway station on the royal train in the morning.

No vehicles are being allowed into West Bank between 7am and 12 noon tomorrow and there has been an increased police presence in the area in the run up to the visit.

Armed and unarmed officers and search dogs have been patrolling the area around Spike Island which has been closed to the public since Tuesday.

Security officers and stewards have been on guard.

West Bank residents have to produce photographic ID to gain access.

Waterloo Road at the junction of Upper Mersey Road and Waterloo Road at the junction of West Bank Street will be closed from 7am to midday.
