CHILDREN welcomed visitors from India with garlands and roses.

A delegation of 21 head teachers from all over India came to The Grange School in Runcorn as part of a UK tour.

The teachers spent time in classrooms observing how lessons are taught and joined in with the activities.

In return, pupils were given a special lesson in how to perform the traditional Indian greeting namaste.

The visit was a chance for teachers from Latham Avenue school to swap ideas with their overseas colleagues.

The tour was organised by the British Council and supported by Wade Deacon Trust.

Michele Bacon, lead principal of Wade Deacon Trust, said: β€œIt was a delight to see all our learners in conversation with our visitors. They spoke with great pride about their school.

"As our guests were leaving they commented on how out of all schools visited, The Grange had provided the warmest welcome and the learners were polite, happy and very proud of their school.

"We hope to build upon the links made and provide the opportunity for learners to establish international links with schools in India.”

The Indian teachers said they had 'been treated like celebrities' as they prepared to embark on their 8,000 mile journey home.

The Grange is a purpose built all through school for children aged three to 16.
