FAMILIES are being invited to join a picnic at Upton Rocks Park.
Residents have teamed together to try and make the park more family friendly following a spate of violent incidents.
A 17-year-old boy was stabbed after an alleged fight between two groups and a 13-year-old girl was the victim of a vicious attack.
A spokesman for the residents said: "After the nasty events that have happened recently a few of us have been discussing how we can make the park more family friendly.
"Having a lot more parents in there could make it feel safer and less attractive to those who want to make trouble.
"First proposal has been a picnic late Saturday afternoon, early evening. Say from 5.30pm onwards.
"Bring a blanket, a ball to play with and a bag to take litter home."
Families are invited to have a picnic at Upton Rocks Park from 5.30pm on Saturday.
