FAMILIES and friends are invited to throw a Blooming Great Tea Party to support a cancer charity.

Marie Curie Widnes fundraising group members Chris Grice, Lorna Cannell and Debbie Hankin are calling on people across Halton to create a bit of a stir this summer.

Debbie said: “We’ve had such glorious weather recently, what better way to enjoy the sunshine than a nice slice of cake and cuppa with friends and family for a good cause.

"It’s easy to get involved. Pick a date in June then invite your friends, colleagues and family round for a tea party, bake sale or a bake off style competition. All you need to do is ask for donations on the day.

"The money you raise will help Marie Curie provide vital care and support for people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones.”

Antony Jones, community fundraiser for Halton said: “Throwing a Blooming Great Tea Party for Marie Curie this summer is an easy way to get together with friends, family and colleagues and raise money for a great cause.

"Put your back garden to good use and invite the whole street round for a garden party, or spend time with a few close friends and buy in your favourite treat.

“So whether you’re an aspiring pastry chef, or a total butterfingers, join people across Halton who will be baking up a storm to raise money for people who are terminally ill. We’re counting on your cuppa!”
