A WHITE Audi and a police car have crashed into a concrete barrier after a high speed police chase.
Drivers have described a white Audi travelling at speeds in excess of 100mph along the M57, followed by a large number of police cars.
The collision happened at around 11am near the junction of Speke Road heading towards Widnes.
One witness said: "The Audi passed me on the M57. It was doing well over a ton and there were around eight police cars behind it.
"The Audi spun and crashed and the first police car behind it also crashed into a concrete barrier.
"A man from the Audi ran off and policemen with dogs are chasing him. The police helicopter is up.
"It is just chaos."
The female driver said the A562 Speke Road was still open as motorists were negotiating their way round the crash scene.
The incident is ongoing.
