TWO hooded men tried to break into someone's home in Widnes under the cover of darkness.
An eagle eyed resident raised the alarm and may have thwarted the would-be burglars after spotting the pair trying a door handle on Buckingham Avenue in Farnworth at 3.20am this morning.
The men were acting suspiciously with their hoods up and ran off towards Birchfield Road.
More residents have since come forward to say that they also saw men acting suspiciously trying three door handles on Buckingham Avenue and Marlborough Crescent.
Police say two vehicles may have been involved.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: "Officers made a search but couldn't find anything. People are being advised to be extra vigilant."
