WE have all had out booklet on recycling for our blue bins.

What it boils down to is that an every time you have an item to recycle you will need to consult this ‘bible’ and what you cannot put in doesn’t mean you can put it in the black bin or go to Picow Farm Road recycling site.

They cannot take electrical goods – for what reason I have no idea as at one time they used to grab any monitor, TV, radio, lawnmower, strimmer, washing machine or tumble dryer.

For certain items you have to go to the Widnes site on Johnsons Lane.

But where anything electrical can be disposed of, no-one knows.

Polystyrene has always been forbidden in the blue bins but I notice on the new schedule for the black bin that it is not accepted in that either so I suppose it is another journey to the recycling site.

Food bins are being issued in parts of the borough therefore food cannot be put in the black bin anymore otherwise it wont be emptied as they are checking on this.

So what are we paying our council tax for?

Hours sorting our own rubbish, taking what will not go in our own bins to the tip, more expense in petrol waiting in the queue to find out that you cannot put this in that.

And the need to travel over the bridge and pay a toll if you don’t have a free pass.

For all our efforts to recycle and save landfill sites from being overrun with our green bins, we are charged an extra £2 this year for recycling our garden rubbish!
