TWO Widnes scouts were amongst the winners as almost 500 young people trekked across the county in this year’s Cheshire Hike.
Dan Fallon, 13, and Lewis Gale, 14, from the 8th Widnes Scout Troop collected the Mersey Weaver District Intermediate Award from the event which saw them hike, camp and tackle skills challenges across two days.
The annual event brings together hundreds of scouts and guides and is a test of the skills picked up at weekly meetings and numerous practice camps and hike.
Joining Dan and Lewis in collecting the district trophies were Aurelia Sparks and Katie Ainsworth of 1st Norley and 1st Helsby Scouts who won the junior section and William Roberts and Kiran Dobson of 3rd Frodsham Sea Scouts and Beacon Explorer Scout unit.
“We’re very proud of the efforts of all our district scouts and explorers who took part in this year’s Cheshire Hike, and particularly well done to our six district winners,” said District Commissioner Oliver Chambers.
“The hike gives participants the opportunity to put into practice many of the wide range of practical skills they learn in an adventurous setting.”
