Crews tackle fire in garage on Northern Lane in Widnes and waste fire on Barlow Way in Runcorn
FIREFIGHTERS tackled a fire in a garage on Northern Lane in Widnes.
Four fire engines were used to deal with the incident at 10am on Sunday morning.
On arrival crews discovered that two cars were also affected.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet and a large fan to extinguish the fire.
Crews were at the scene for five hours.
Firefighters also dealt with a fire in a waste compactor at an industrial site on Barlow Way in Runcorn.
The fire involved approximately ten thousand tonnes of waste and was extinguished using a deluge system on site before crews arrived shortly after 11.30am on Sunday.
Crews checked the site using a thermal imaging camera as a precaution.
