A WIDNES school is celebrating after winning a prestigious national autism accolade.
Staff and pupils from Ashley High School have received The Autism Professionals Award for 2018 for Inspirational Education Provision.
The school on Cawfield Avenue triumphed over shortlisted Wilmslow High School and Gainsborough School chosen from 17 entries across the country.
Autism Professionals Awards acknowledge the outstanding contributions and achievements of individuals, teams and organisations who have demonstrated excellence, dedication and commitment to improving the lives of autistic people.
Headteacher, Linda King who received the award from autism champion Jane Asher, said: "Ashley High School is all about partnership: our pupils, our families, our staff, our governors and our local authority all working together to ensure that the young people in our care achieve the very best outcomes; enabling them to lead happy, fulfilling and successful lives in the future.
"I couldn’t be happier and more proud."
