ALMOST 70 residents enjoyed a St Patrick’s themed event in Runcorn.

Halton Council’s Sure Start To Later Life hosted an Irish celebration with live entertainment at The Grangeway Community Centre.

Food was provided by business owner James Quigley.

Volunteers and staff served refreshments. Tickets were £5.

Regular tea socials are held on the second Monday of every month from 1pm to 4pm, from February to November.

Halton Cllr Marie Wright, board member for health and wellbeing, said: “Everyone is made to feel very welcome.

“It’s a great way to make new friends with lots of fun and laughter, singing and if people want to they can have a dance.”

One woman said: “There is a lovely atmosphere and food, plenty of tea and coffee. Staff are really helpful. It was nice to see my mum joining in and smiling.”

Another person said: “I love coming here, it gets me out for a few hours.”
