MORE than 10,000 people have visited Merseyflow’s walk in centre in Runcorn to pay and make enquiries about Mersey Gateway bridge tolls

From April 3, the centre on Howard Court in Manor Park is reducing its opening hours on weekdays to between 9am and 7pm.

Customers will still be able to visit the centre on weekends and bank holidays between 9am and 6pm and customers can still contact the call centre team between 8am and 8pm.

Anthony Alicastro, managing director of merseyflow, said the change was part of the natural lifecycle of the walk-in centre and reflected demand for walk-in centre services.

He said: “Since opening, the walk-in centre has helped more than 10,000 people with their merseyflow accounts.

“In February alone the team helped more than 1,700 people.

“However, as we approach six months of full operation we are finding more and more people are visiting the walk-in centre between the hours of 9am and 7pm on weekdays.

“Now people have become more familiar with the tolls, the bridge and the services we offer, we are in a position to slightly reduce the opening hours of the walk-in centre.

“Hardly anyone was using the centre before 8am or after 7pm so it makes sense to focus our resources and adapt our service to ensure we meet customer demands.

“While the walk-in centre will be changing its hours of operation from Monday to Friday, weekend and bank holiday opening hours remain unchanged, as will call centre opening hours.”

Registering with Merseyflow is the only way for drivers to register for a pre-pay account, get discounts or free tolls if they live in Halton and qualify.

Anyone who is eligible for the Halton residents’ discount scheme must register and pay a £10 annual fee to claim their free trips.
