CHILDREN in care are making Valentine’s gifts for their foster carers to appeal for more people to offer loving homes in Halton.

Looked after children in Runcorn and Widnes are coming together for a crafting session as part of a Valentine themed recruitment campaign.

Youngsters are making small gifts for their foster families to thank them for being so passionate about fostering.

Halton Council’s fostering team will share special clips, pictures and gift presentations on social media this week to try and attract new carers.

A drop in session is being held on Thursday, February 15, from 11am to 1pm at Costa Coffee in Widnes for anyone who is interested.

It is an informal get together and a chance for people to meet foster carers and find out more information.

Halton Cllr Tom McInerney, board member for children and young peopeo, said: “In Halton we are in need of more people who will make great foster carers.

“We’re pleased to involve our young people to show what a difference foster care can make and encourage people to apply.”
