THIS picture of a swan enjoying the sunrise at Ferry Hut, a strip of land on the Manchester Ship Canal, was captured by David Hough, from Runcorn.
This is where a ferry used to carry people across the River Mersey from Runcorn to Widnes before the canal and Old Transporter bridge was built.
The Runcorn Ferry cost 2d per person per trip and was featured in a famous song.
There used to be a hut which was a little protective building for the ferryman.
