Man charged with assaulting a police officer
A DRIVER has been charged with assaulting a police officer in Widnes.
Cheshire Police say a female officer stopped a vehicle on Hough Green Road yesterday.
The driver fled from the car on foot and was chased by police.
He was caught a short time later and arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle.
Jack Day, 24, of Tree Road, Halewood has been charged with assault, driving a motor vehicle dangerously and driving without insurance.
He has been remanded to appear at North Cheshire Magistrates Court today.
