A MAN has been detained by police following an incident involving armed officers in Runcorn.
Inspector Tony McKevitt said: "We were called to an incident on Paddock Rise just before 8.45am concerning a male occupant of the address.
“He did have weapons and was presenting as possibly under the influence of substances. We were quite concerned for his welfare.
“He has been detained and enquires are ongoing.
“There is no concern for the community at this time.”
A Cheshire Police spokesman added: “Armed response officers attended an incident in the Beechwood area, Runcorn today.
“Following negotiation with a distressed male at an address the incident was resolved safely.
“He is now getting the support he needs. We thank the public for their patience and understanding.”
