CATERING and hospitality students from Riverside College have been inspired after spending a skills day with Michelin star chefs.

The trainees were invited Coworth Park in Ascot, a luxury five star country house hotel and spa, for a unique masterclass.

Executive chef Adam Smith and head pastry chef Jonas Plangger spoke about their careers and gave shared their skills and experience.

The top chefs demonstrated how to prepare an array of luxurious dishes from their menus.

The educational trip was organised by Murray Chapman who is a Master Chef of Great Britain and a Master Craftsman of The Craft Guild of Chefs.

He is the founder of A Passion to Inspire which aims to motivate young catering and hospitality students with inspirational events.

Mr Chapman said: “A fantastic day was had with the inspirational Adam Smith and a lot of lucky students from seven different colleges.

“The students were able to learn about different career paths and hear a very special talk and demonstration on pulled sugar with head pastry chef Jonas.”

Level three professional cookery students Charlotte Kenny, Owen Webb, Shauna Molden and Daniel Brown made such an impression at the event they were offered interviews with Coworth Park parent company, Dorchester Collection when they complete their college courses.

Stephen Parkinson, programme area leader for catering and hospitality at Riverside College, who accompanied the students, said: “It was an absolutely fantastic opportunity for our students who gained a lot of practical knowledge and tips to help them develop their careers.

“It was a privilege to be invited and they all enjoyed it.”
