A Runcorn man has been jailed for carrying out a series of burglaries in the town.

Mark Wakefield, 39, of Hillside Avenue, was jailed for 24 months on Monday, December 11 at Chester Crown Court after he changed his plea to guilty on the first day of his trial.

Wakefield admitted three burglaries on Sandy Lane, Greenway and Clayton Crescent in April and May this year.

During sentencing he also asked for three further burglaries to be taken into consideration on The Elms, Lingfield Road and Penn Lane in Runcorn.

Wakefield smashed a window or door before stealing cash, games consoles and games and jewellery.

Detective Sergeant Rob McLoughlin said: “We know the unsettling effect that a stranger stealing from a home can have on a family.

“Wakefield was brazen in his actions as the burglaries took place during the day.

“Thanks to a detailed investigation and the support of the victims and witnesses he is now off our streets and behind bars.”
