JUNIOR footballers are jumping into action in a bid to raise enough money to fund a much needed new kit.

The growing under 13s Runcorn Linnets Sunday Blue side have been wearing the same kit for two seasons and hope to fund a new one by completing a sponsored bounce challenge on Sunday, December 17.

The boys are aiming to jump up and down 100,000 times between them on a bouncy castle.

That equates to 6,666 bounces each.

Team manager Kev Lampkin said: “It will be an exhausting challenge for the boys but a fun one.

“They are a very determined bunch – which they are proving by faring so well in the Chester and District Junior Football League top flight this season, lying second in the table – so I am sure they will give the sponsored bounce challenge their all.”

Two bouncy castles will be set up outside Runcorn Linnets’ Millbank Stadium on Murdishaw Avenue from 11am, one for the challenge and the other for the public to use.

Youngsters can play on the bouncy castle for £2, with the money raised used to help pay for the new kit.

Former Liverpool, Huddersfield and Mansfield player Kev added: “As junior teams get older it becomes harder and harder to find sponsors to pay for new kit and equipment.

“Lots of football teams are forced to fold because of this.

“Our current kit sponsor ASB Bouncy Castle Hire has been fantastic and has kindly supplied the bouncy castles for this challenge.

“It would be great if people came along to cheer on the boys during the challenge and let their kids have a go on the other bouncy castle to help us pay for a much needed new kit for the team.”

ASB Bouncy Castle Hire provides a wide range of bouncy castles for hire for all types of events, including birthdays and weddings.
