A GLOBAL and technical challenge with a difference has been held at Daresbury Laboratory.
Young scientists working in teams, each with an adult supporting coach, took part in the First Lego League’s regional tournament on December 5 and 6.
The event was hosted by the Science and Technology Facilities Council.
Students aged nine to 16 explore a given topic and design and build and programme an autonomous Lego robot to solve a series of missions.
This year’s theme is hydro dynamics – incorporating how humans find, transport, use and dispose of water.
The challenge involves a robot game and a research project and gives teams the chance to learn about the science and engineering and they all score points.
