POLICE in Runcorn have been on patrol around shopping areas in a bid to deter shoplifters.
Officers say they have performed numerous stop searches on "suspicions individuals" over the weekend.

On Saturday, police said they detained someone at the Asda store on West Lane, Runcorn in connection with a case of shoplifting.
