A PERSONAL trainer who helps patients to recover from serious illness, injury and surgery is launching a pioneering venture.

John Shelbourne, from Runcorn, specialises in cancer rehabilitation and wants to improve the health and wellbeing of more people.

The dad-of-two is opening a new rehabilitation and personal training centre in The Box at Runcorn Shopping City, creating three jobs.

VP Wellbeing CIC, a community interest company, is offering free taster sessions at an open day on Saturday from 12 noon until 4pm.

“I am trying to fill a gap,” said John, 59, from Halton Lodge, who has 20 years’ experience in the fitness industry.

“Someone who is post operative gets some physio on the NHS but nothing after that.

“The toning tables we provide are passive exercise machines. They are very low intensity suitable for anyone of any ability.

“The gentle exercises improve circulation, posture, mobility and overall wellbeing.

“Exercise boosts confidence and self esteem.”

Each toning table offers eight different exercises and there is also a separate exercise area.

“If I had the opportunity to do it all for nothing I would,” said John.

“But I am keeping the prices as low as possible.

“People can come in on Saturday and try out the toning beds.”
