WAR veterans are laying a wreath at Runcorn Cenotaph today to commemorate the last day of the battle of Passchendaele.
Runcorn Veterans Association (RVA) will pay tribute to the servicemen from the town who lost their lives during this First World War conflict.
Veterans will lay wreaths on Saturday at 11am at the War Memorial on Greenway Road.
RVA founder former RAF cook Billy Jones said: “By laying wreaths we remember Runcorn’s sacrificed fallen and those were lost and never returned home.”
He wishes to thank all the veterans and volunteers who have been cleaning and maintaining Runcorn Cenotaph with Halton Council’s open spaces staff.
A charity rally night is being held on Friday at 7pm at the Masonic Lodge.
Everton and District Pipe Band and female vocalist Keily Hampson will be performing.
Tickets priced £6 will be available on the door or £5 if booked in advance by calling 07967 795179.
