A NUMBER of flood alerts have been issued across town ahead of Storm Brian.

Flooding of low lying land is possible this afternoon, with the Mersey expected to experience higher than normal tides.

Alerts have been issued for Fiddlers Ferry, Howley, Westy, Eastford Road in Lower Walton, Arpley Bridge near to the town centre and Knutsford Road.

High tides are expected between 1.30pm and 2.45pm.

An Environment Agency spokesman said: “People are advised to stay away from risk areas and take care around locations adjacent to the Mersey estuary in Warrington.

“We will continue to monitor the situation.”
