INDUSTRY professionals from rail transport giant Alstom in Widnes met engineering students and apprentices at Cronton Sixth Form College for an informative ‘speed dating’ style careers event.

The event was arranged to provide students with an insight into many different industry career pathways.

Budding engineers had the opportunity to chat with 30 Alstom representatives who work in a variety of job sectors including engineering, commercial, manufacturing, finance and legal.

The students were able to ask specific questions about job roles, career progression and developments in the rail transport industry including the design, build and maintenance of systems.

Denise Whitney, the college’s advice, careers and employability team leader, said: “Our students really enjoyed the event as they were able to ask lots of interesting questions about future career opportunities.

“I would like to say thank you to the staff at Alstom for joining us and providing our students with excellent advice.”
