NOVICE gardeners made a big impact at Widnes and District Horticultural Show.
Ladies from Widnes WI achieved places in every category of the vegetable section.
Cream of the crop was a first placed pumpkin.
The club, known as Widnes Wonders, only acquired their allotment on Hanley Close earlier this year.
After spending many hours preparing the soil for planting they were really pleased with the outcome of their first foray into the world of horticultural competition.
Katie Hardman, from the allotment group, said: “We are truly delighted to have done so well. “All those hours of back breaking digging have paid off.”
