A WIDNES schoolgirl is organising a family fun day in memory of her granddad.
Lucy Molloy wants to celebrate the life of her granddad Michael, 72, of Radnor Drive, who died in June from vascular dementia.
The 14-year-old is hosting the charity event at Moorfield Sports and Social Club on Moorfield Road on Sunday at 12.30pm.
Her mum Melanie, of Cawfield Avenue, said: “Lucy was going to do a cake sale and balloon release and it just snowballed. We are very proud of her.
“Her grandad was a plumber and was popular round Widnes as he worked on lots of houses. People knew him as ‘ace Molloy’.
“Family and friends are supporting Lucy and businesses have donated prizes for a tombola and raffle.”
Visitors will be able to release balloons in memory of loved ones.
Cake sale, bouncy castle and hoopla promise plenty of family fun.
Lucy’s dad Neil and brothers Declan, eight, and Kian, four will be on hand to help.
Money raised will be shared between the Alzheimer’s Society and Moorfield under 9s rugby team to help towards their kit and training facilities.
