A MOVING dance tribute to the legend Marilyn Monroe won a schoolgirl top prize in Halton’s Got Talent.

Molly Gill, from Widnes, performed Don’t Forget Me from Smash’s musical Bombshell dedicated to the famous Hollywood icon.

The 11-year-old wowed judged with her emotional interpretation.

Her mum Clare Fox-Gill, 40, from Hough Green, said: “It is Molly’s favourite dance. It is lyrical and she put a lot of feeling into it.

“When you watch her perform, she captivates people. She is very mature for her age.”

Molly started dancing when she was three at the G School of Dance at Ditton Community Centre where teacher Jessica Middlehurst spotted her talent and encouraged her to develop her own unique style.

“She lives and breathes dancing, it is her passion,” said Clare.

“When she is at home she doesn’t keep still, she is constantly practising.”

The Ormiston Chadwick Academy pupil was to have performed in the final as a duet but her partner and best friend Molly Ross 11, from Upton Rocks, was unable to join her because she was on holiday.

“It is the first talent show Molly has ever entered on her own,” said Clare.

“She was just happy to be part of the show. She was in shock when they called out her name as the winner. We were all thrilled.

“She wants to be a dancer and one day would love to open a school in Widnes.”

Gifted Molly is following in the footsteps of her singer mum and musician dad Alan, 46, who plays keyboard, guitar, Bodhran, penny whistle.

The pair perform as Foxed Up entertaining crowds across the country and abroad.

“We’ve been performing for 10 years,” added Clare.

Molly received £1,000 prizemoney plus £100 for coming first in the under 16 category.

She donated some of her winnings to charity and bought her friend Molly a gift.

She treated herself to her dream dog Wesley and a specialist dance mat.
