FIREFIGHTERS tackled a kitchen fire in Widnes.
Crews discovered a woman suffering from smoke inhalation when they arrived at a flat on Dean Street.
Firefighters say the fire had been caused by burnt food.
Crews gave the casualty oxygen therapy until paramedics arrived.
The fire broke out shortly before 10pm on Sunday.
Firefighters from Widnes and Penketh were at the scene for more than an hour.
North West Ambulance Service said paramedics took the woman to Whiston Hospital suffering from the effects of smoke.
