STUDENTS across Halton are celebrating success today after receiving their A-level results.

Sixth formers at Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy in Runcorn have achieved phenomenal success with an overall 100 per pass rate.

And this year saw 80 per cent of students achieving A* and A  at A-level or distinction* and distinction for applied learning subjects.

Head of sixth form Paul Finnigan said: “These students worked so hard to achieve these excellent results and we are all really proud of them.

“They are delighted to have done so well after all their hard work and to have secured their ideal place at university or in employment - they are justifiably thrilled.

“On behalf of everyone at OBA I wish them well and am sure they will achieve even greater success in the future.”

Many students will now pursue degree courses in their chosen course up and down the country whilst others have secured apprenticeships and employment across. 

Students are going to university to study biological sciences, biomedical sciences, maths and computer science, adult nursing, psychology, business, media, sports therapy, social work and history.

Amongst those celebrating were Danielle McGough who was delighted with her grades A, B and C in biology, chemistry and maths.

James O’Day who gained  A*, A and B in history, sociology and catering and will be going on a gap year.

Ebony Gumbs scored 4 A*s in dance and sport examinations, Jack Chambers was thrilled with his A*, A* and A grades in ICT and photography.

Luke Waterworth who achieved four A*s in graphics, ICT and business studies will be starting an apprenticeship.

Filip Reppel who also gained four A*s in a range of ICT and business studies begins an apprenticeship with Runcorn company Adept4.

Executive principal John Rigby, said: “OBA is delighted with the students’ successes and there were many happy faces as they opened their envelopes.

“I would like to thank all their parents and carers as well as our amazing teaching and pastoral staff for all their hard work, support and dedication. 

“Well done to each and every one of our former sixth form students and the very best of luck.

“We are proud to have played a part in your success and we will enjoy hearing about your many future achievements.”
