A RUNCORN student has raised more than £1,300 for a children’s bereavement charity.

Morgan Dowling organised a family fun day and barbecue for families.

The 18-year-old lost her dad, Stephen, aged 44, two years ago.

Morgan said: “I wanted to support Child Bereavement UK as one month after I turned 16, my dad passed away.

“I found things really difficult and a friend of my mum’s passed on a leaflet about the charity.

“A lady at the charity called Clare Bullen helped me to make big life choices such as staying in college and going to university so I decided to fundraise for Child Bereavement UK so that other people like me receive the amazing support I was given and also to raise awareness of the charity.”

Morgan raised £1,300 on the day and is looking forward to volunteering at the Child Bereavement UK winter fundraising ball later this year.

She has also been trained to help at workshops for families facing bereavement which will take place in October.

Morgan is studying psychology at the University of Chester.

She organised a tombola and raffle as well as face painting and live music at her charity event.

She added: “I’m amazed by all the support I received from friends, colleagues and businesses who volunteered their time or donated raffle prizes.”
