A NEW education manager has been appointed at Catalyst Science Discovery Centre in Widnes.

Lucinda Lewis, an experienced primary school teacher with a degree in science education.

She has also held education and interpretation roles at various museums where she developed science shows, demonstrations, science lab sessions, family activities and educational workshops.

More recently she has worked with the British Science Association and as young enterprise manager for Cheshire and Merseyside where she promoted science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) career opportunities.

Lucinda said: “I am really excited to take on a new challenge as the education manager at Catalyst.

“After teaching, I started my museum career at the Museum of Science and Industry and I am thrilled to return to science education, a subject that I am passionate about.

“I am looking forward to enthusing the children and families of Widnes and surrounding areas, strengthening their interest in STEM subjects through fun, hands-on opportunities.”

“As an ex-teacher with 13 years of experience in museum education, she brings a valuable level of expertise and fresh ideas, not to mention enthusiasm!”
