A MAKEUP student from Widnes has scooped first place in a prestigious competition for her dramatic autumnal look.

Chloe Green, who studies at Riverside College, dressed as a tree with leaves and even a bird in her hair, which had been styled to resemble branches.

She showcased her talents at the WorldSkills UK Media Makeup contest at NEC Birmingham and faced tough competition from other students.

Chloe, who plans to progress on to the college's hairdressing course, took her inspiration from a colourful autumn tree close to her home.

She said: “I have always liked art and I decided to utilise my creativity by doing a media makeup course at Riverside College.

"After taking part in the in-house competition I realised that I liked using a theme to design the whole look.

"When I was selected to take part in the Worldskills UK competition I thought it was a fantastic opportunity and started working on the theme of the environment straight away.

“I really didn’t imagine that I could win because many of the competitors were much more experienced than me and were on higher level courses so when they called out the winners in reverse order I was shocked but really proud.

"I am now excited to hear if I have managed to secure myself a place in the finals later this year.”
