PUPILS from a primary school in Runcorn discovered an alien spaceship had crash-landed in a nearby church yard.
The scene was created by teachers at Runcorn All Saints C E Primary as part of the school's year two space project.
Dawn Davies, teaching assistant, was among those claiming to have seen flashes of bright lights coming from the church yard the previous evening.
Dressed in high-visibility jackets, the year two pupils signed paperwork before starting work as crime scene investigators exploring the UFO.
The pupils spent the day taking samples from the scene and testing them for alkaline and acids to try and work out which planet the spaceship had come from.
Kelly Crofton, Forest School leader, said the session worked as a 'wonderful learning stimulus' and armed pupils with investigative skills to fuel their imagination.
