“She is dead funny and has a wicked sense of humour.

“She loves to send rude, comical seaside postcards and when you take her picture she’s always pulling faces.

“She’s one of those people who is always smiling and being mischievous, making all the women in the home laugh.”

Game for a laugh Dolly was born in Lake Vyrnwy in Wales and had two sisters Iris and Milly and two brothers George and Jackie.

Her mum Lucy Valentine was married to Jack Evans for 53 years. He served Liverpool Corporation Water Works at Lake Vyrnwy for 41 years.

Sadly, Dolly’s only son Gary died when he was very young.

“She took us to school every day and to Wales in the school holidays.”

Dolly married Wddyn William Williams who died in 1984.

Dolly loves dancing, bingo, music and going on family holidays.

Dan said: “When she was younger she always used to say to me that she wants a telegram from the Queen.

“We are so proud of her. She’s the most genuinely warm caring person you could ever meet.”

Dolly’s family is celebrating her birthday with her friends and staff at Ryan Care Residential Home on Balfour Street where she now lives.

“It’s an amazing place,” added Dan. “Thanks to the staff there they have helped her to reach 100.”

Her family is planning to take Dolly on a special trip back to her Welsh home town.
