A CAR was stolen from Hale Village in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police are now appealing for witnesses.

Thieves stole keys from inside a house on Ellwood Close shortly before 3am and then took a silver Mercedes B180 hatchback from the driveway.

Detective sergeant Marc Roberts, from Widnes Local Policing Unit, said:

"If anyone saw any suspicious behaviour in the area around the time the car was stolen please get in touch with officers so we can return it to its owner.

“I would also appeal directly to anyone who may have seen the vehicle involved, either driving in the area where the incident occurred or if it has been left out of place in the street.

“I would also encourage people to ensure their property is safe and secure from thieves by making sure their doors and windows are closed and locked.

“It is also important to never leave keys on display where thieves can see them.

“Keep car keys in a safe place at home out of sight and away from windows and doors.”

Anyone with any information should contact Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 136 of June 25.
