A FAMILY fun day is being held at St Michael’s Catholic Primary School in Widnes.

Parents have teamed up to organise the event on Saturday, July 1 to help the Ditton school recoup losses following the cancellation of a trip to London.

Year six pupils were planning to go on a three day residential but it was called off following recent terror attacks.

Mum Jackie Laughton said: “Children’s safety is paramount. There will be very little refund as it’s such short notice.

“The head arranged mystery days instead which again has cost the school. The school is going to be down in funds by more than £6,000.”

The fun day runs from 10am to 4pm.

Attractions include craft stalls, a car boot sale, dancers, horse rides, games, raffles and sports.

Widnes Viking players will make a special appearance.

Refreshments will be available.
