THE chance to win a £4,000 dream holiday anywhere in the world is the top prize being offered at a special golf challenge.

Widnes Golf Club is hosting a fundraising match on Saturday, June 24, to raise funds for the Felix Fund, a bomb disposal charity.

The club’s 2017 Captain Brad Bradshaw, an ex army bomb disposal officer, has chosen this cause as his charity of the year.

The Felix Fund provides financial assistance to serving and ex-serving soldiers and their families when they find themselves in times of need.

Dad-of-two Mr Bradshaw, of Foxley Heath, said: “I had a full 22 years career in the army and really enjoyed it. I also spent some time teaching with the New Zealand army.

“This charity helps lads who are injured by bombs. This is a little give back to them.”

Barclays has pledged to match fund the event.

Ninety players have already signed up to play on Saturday and the competition is open to all golfers.

Places are still available for 30 players.

Businesses have donated more than £4,000 worth of prizes.

A dream holiday is up for grabs to anyone who hits a hole in one on the 18th hole.

The Felix Fund supports injured military personnel through home adaptations and provides specialist equipment, such as electric wheelchairs and bespoke sporting equipment.

The charity helped fund pioneering surgery for a soldier who lost both legs in Afghanistan to enable him to walk with prosthetics.
