GIFTED Halton musicians have won places at two of the most prestigious music conservatoires in the country.

Jennie Worrall and Sonny Fielding are A Level music students at Cronton Sixth Form College in Widnes.

The pair, both 18, fought tough competition at auditions from the musicians across the UK, but managed to impress panels with their talent.

Sonny, who is currently a performing arts scholar at the college, has been offered an £8, 000 scholarship at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

This specialist centre for music, drama, dance, production and film in Glasgow has recently been ranked in the top three performing arts education establishments in the world.

Sonny, from Liverpool, who hopes to become a professional opera singer, said: “When I heard the news about my scholarship at one of the top music conservatoires in the world it felt incredible.

“I had a feeling of accomplishment as I have been working towards this goal for a long time.”

Jennie has been offered a place at both The Royal Northern College of Music and The Birmingham Conservatoire, with a £3,000 scholarship.

Jennie, from Warrington, who has played the tenor horn for the past 10 years said: “I have decided to go to The Royal Northern College of Music as it is one of the best in the country.

“You really have to be one of the best and have an extremely good audition to be offered a place.

“I am very excited and proud to have achieved this fantastic opportunity.”
