LIFESAVERS are celebrating a momentous milestone.

St John Ambulance volunteers in Halton are celebrating 75 years of providing lifesaving first aid in the community this year.

To mark the anniversary unit manager Lyn Hunter, and her team will be presented with a certificate by the St John Ambulance management team at a special ceremony tomorrow, Monday.

Lyn said: “When my husband and I moved to Weston Point in 2014 we joined Halton Unit.

“At that time there was no unit manager and volunteer numbers had fallen. In fact, there were just three volunteers left!

“I took over the role and lots of recruiting followed and we now have seven first aiders, three support members and one new volunteer awaiting training.

“We provide vital first aid cover at events locally and our volunteers also get lots of opportunities to go further afield to larger duties such as football and rugby matches, pop concerts, horse racing and other events in Cheshire and the wider area.

“We’re thrilled to be celebrating 75 years of service to the community and we’re looking forward to many more years delivering crucial first aid when it’s needed.”
